How to make dalgona coffee

To make Dalgona coffee, follow these simple steps:


  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • Milk (any type)
  • Ice (optional)


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a 1:1:1 ratio. For example, use 2 tablespoons of each ingredient.
  2. Using a whisk or hand mixer, vigorously whisk the mixture until it becomes thick, frothy, and creamy. This can take around 5-10 minutes if whisking by hand.
  3. Prepare a glass with milk of your choice. You can use regular milk, plant-based milk, or even try it with iced milk for a cold version.
  4. Spoon the whipped coffee mixture, known as Dalgona coffee foam, onto the milk. You can use a spoon, piping bag, or ziplock bag with the corner cut off to pipe the foam onto the milk.
  5. Optional: If desired, sprinkle some cocoa powder, cinnamon, or other toppings on top of the foam for added flavor.
  6. Stir the coffee foam into the milk before drinking. You can use a spoon or straw to mix it well, creating a creamy and rich coffee experience.
  7. If you prefer a cold version, you can add ice cubes to the milk before spooning the coffee foam on top.
