 Chinatown is a place many local Singaporeans go to during the CNY period. Without the CNY bazaar this year, there are still things to do in Chinatown at night. CNY lights One of the yearly highlights is the CNY lights. The 880 metres stretch along Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road is lit up with 888 lanterns. The 10 metre tall oxen beside a waterwheel in front of Yue Hwa Chinese Products cannot be missed. Oxen line up the road wth auspicious items like pineapples and blossom trees. CNY street shopping Though the yearly CNY bazaar is not allowed this year, there are still many CNY items sold at the permanent stalls along the streets of Chinatown. Ang pows, CNY decorations and melon seeds are among the items you can find. The stall staff no longer use loudspeakers to shout for business. Those who enjoy a slightly more peaceful CNY shopping experience should still make their way here to busk in the festive mood. The full report can be found here.   24 hours supermarkets selling China products Beside Chinatown Complex, there is a supermarket selling China products that is crowded even when I arrived at 10pm. There is a wide variety of products here, including instant milk tea and mala cup noodles. There is even a frozen food section here. This gives us more choices, besides the offerings at local supermarkets. To affirm the information told to me by the staff of that store, I decided to check out the prices of the 3 most popular drinks we buy on CNY. They are Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea in packets, Coca Cola in cans and Pokka Green Tea in packets. I checked out Fairprice Xtra in Jurong Point, Sheng Siong near Commonwealth MRT station and Giant near Bishan Bus Interchange. Yeo's Chrysanthemum Tea Fairprice: $8.35 Chap He Diam: $5.90 Giant: $8.35 Sheng Siong: $7.95 The lowest priced carton of 24 packets of Chrysanthemum Tea comes from Chap He Diam. They do not belong to any financial institution. Purely cash withdrawal is allowed on these machines.  One popular option of these machines is to withdraw $10 from the machines, unlike a minimum of $20 from other bank ATMs. There is no fee per transaction.  With DBS/ POSB transactions discontinued, UOB and OCBC users can still withdraw cash from these machines.
