Chinatown getting ready for CNY

Chinese New Year 2021 falls on 12 Feb 2021. The annual CNY bazaar at Chinatown will not be held this year. The year of the cow is especially significant to Chinatown that is 牛车水 (literally translated as 'cow car water') in Chinese. Here is how the Chinatown is getting ready to welcome the year of the cow.

CNY lights

Besides the CNY bazaar that cannot be held this year, the other highlight of Chinatown every CNY is the CNY decorations that is themed by the zodiac animal every lunar year. Buffalo lanterns are just unwrapped for the CNY light setu up. The official light-up will take place on 22 January 2021.

Chinatown Complex 

One of the must visit place every CNY is Chinatown Complex. The stalls on level 1 are already stocked with festive items. There are CNY mats, cheongsam for kids and many CNY decorations. Red is an auspicious colour for CNY and Chinatown Complex is temporarily busked with many red items. You can take a break at the food centre on level 2. There are many famous stalls to satisfy your hunger.

If you need air con badly, you can pop into myCK located next to Chinatown Complex to get CNY decorations in a cool environment. CNY decorative pieces start from $0.70. There are many cute cow decorations waiting to brighten up your house.

CNY foodstuff at myCK
